2017 ARMY: WH 30K Army: Mechanicum

To purchase raffle tickets for this army click here.

The Horus Heresy (AKA Warhammer 30K) has really been gaining a lot of momentum over the last few years, so we decided it was high time we put some of the Artist Consortium on painting up some beautiful (and impactful) Horus Heresy-era armies.

This Mechanicum army is made entirely from Forgeworld models and runs 2,000 points once tricked out with the various upgrades and wargear items.

The army contains the following (and the artists are listed in parentheses):

HQ
• Magos Prime on Abeyant (Jake Landis)

Troops
• Thallax Cohort with Phase Plasma Fusil (Joel Moon)
• Thallax Cohort with Photon Thruster (Joel Moon)

Fast Attack
• Vultarax Stratos-Automata (Marc Raley)

Heavy Support
• Thanatar Class Siege Automata (David Sampson)
• Krios Battle Tank (Max Dubois)
• Myrmidon Destructors (Andrew Gray)

Lord of War
• Cerastus Knight Atrapos (John Stiening)

It is a very compact force (just 14 models) but packs a LOT of punch, with a great deal of heavy hitters. It would also be easy to take it up to 2,500 points by simply adding a couple of Thallax Cohorts to the list.

This army really is great for both veteran Horus Heresy players and those completely new to games in the Age of Darkness.

40K Necrons – The Golden Dynasty

Warhammer 40,000 – Necrons – The Golden Dynasty

We are very proud to accept the anonymous donation of this Warhammer 40,000 Necron Army. The army itself was painted on commission by Frontline Gaming and looks fabulous on any tabletop, and we are dubbing it “The Golden Dynasty”!

The army contains the following:

HQ
• Nemesor Zahndrekh
• Vargard Obyron
• Assorted Necron Lords

Elites
• 5 Deathmarks
• Assorted Lychguard and Triarch Praetorians

Troops
• 4 units of 10 Necron Wariors
• 2 units of 5 Necron Immortals

Dedicated Transport
• 1 Ghost Ark

Fast Attack
• 12 Canoptek Wraiths
• 1 Canoptek Tomb Stalker (Forgeworld)
• 6 Canoptek Acanthrites (Forgeworld)

Heavy Support
• 1 Necron Pylon (Forgeworld)
• 1 Necron Monolith
• 1 Triarch Stalker
• 3 Annihilation Barges
• 3 Canoptex Spyders and 7 Scarab swarms

Flyers
• 4 Night Scythes

So, there are a lot of options for your games, and without going to fine details, we have it on good authority that this army was around 4,000 points in the “old money”.

With Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition releasing recently, this is a great army to get you stuck directly into all the great gaming going on right now.

The Houston Food Bank Thanks You!

The NOCF represents the world-wide tabletop wargamer community.

So far, in 2017, you, the tabletop wargamer have raised $48,000 for charities, $5,000 of which went to the Houston Food Bank. Initially the Houston Food Bank was not one of the summer charities, but due to the massive damage caused by Hurricane Harvey in August and early September things changed and a dozen NOVA Open attendees living in the Houston area were forced to cancel. While at NOVA Open (August 29th – September 2nd) the NOCF Board of Directors heard about this and decided to run a one-day fundraiser for HFB; a great organization supporting the victims and families of the hurricane.

You all were extremely generous in your giving and we raised $5,000 that night.  Below is a thank you letter from the Houston Food Bank. This is the impact that you make when you purchase raffle tickets or come up to the NOCF Lounge and drink for charity, bid on Silent Auction items or make donations.

Today’s Featured Model: Pegaso, Jacques de Molay, Grandmaster

Today’s Featured 2017 Charity Model:

Jacques De Molay was the 23rd and last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, and on Friday, 13 October 1307, Molay and sixty of his Templar brother knights were arrested by order of the French King, Philip IV; they were all charged with heresy, (I’m looking in your direction Sons of Horus). One such charge against Molay and his men were that the cord worn by the neophyte Templar’s day and night was consecrated by wrapping it around an idol in the form of a human head with a great beard, and that this idol was adored with…Wait! What?
An idol in the form of a human head?
Am I the only one seeing the connection here? Was there some truth to this charge?

How do you explain this then:

Jacques de Molay
(Painted by Roman Lappat of Massive Voodoo)

I’m sorry, did you say…Voodoo?

Seriously! Do I need to draw you all a picture?

A cord wrapped in a human head with a great beard? A bust of Grandmaster de Molay? The same man who placed a curse on King Philip IV, his family, and Pope Clement the V? Did you know that all of these people died within years of de Molay’s pronounced curse, (Some in less than a year of its proclamation)? And yet this bust…or shall we say head…is painted by a man from “Massive….Voodoo“? Each of these people had a V in their name.  Voodoo starts with a…wait for it…wait a bit more…just a bit now…V.

Need we say more?

This raffle is in support of:
